Mesa, in the middle of the Arizona desert, is considered the most conservative city in the United States. A few months before 9/11, director Fernanda Pessoa, who was only 15 years old, arrived as an exchange student. Fifteen years later, he returns to demystify that experience and question the values ​​of the North American model of life.

Through the photographs and experiences that Fernanda rescues from her adolescent past in the United States and which are contrasted with the current images of the environments she frequented and the interviews she conducts with the acquaintances she meets, the director establishes an internal dialogue with the young and student Fernanda. Soon, the dazzle of an American lifestyle built in his imagination through Hollywood films fades and turns into disappointment when he becomes aware of his situation as an immigrant while dealing with the prejudices of others. Now, after the years, words like racism, machismo and xenophobia resonate in his memories and experiences and he is able to confront and question a society that 15 years later, still lives in an area that is too arid, where walls are built to preserve traditional values ​​with many imperfections.
