In a cabin in the heart of the Japanese Alps, botany professor Kazuhiko Onuma observes two newlyweds while spending time with Tsuruko, his lover. At night, Kazuhiko’s wife confronts him about the extramarital relationship and Tsuruko, an inevitable spectator of the clash, leaves the teacher the next morning. Over the next few decades, whenever he visits the cabin in the mountains, Tsuruko’s memory will forever haunt Kazuhiko.
